TI50 Radio: @MistahFAB freestyles off of Maya the B’s random words

Shout out to my homegirl, El of Murda Mamis for bringing Mistah FAB through to thisis50 Radio! Tune into her show every Thursday on DTFRadio from 7-9PM EST.

One rainy Fall afternoon, I met up with Fab at Le Femme Suite in Harlem. Check that spot out ladies! It’s an ultra fancy, 2 level ladies lounge that offers pole dancing classes and much more! Hence the references made by Fab in regards to strippers. lol Trying to paint a picture for you people!
So, rainy day…Harlem…Mistah FAB and I met up for long overdue interview. He was very cool and polite, had a really nice aura overall. His answers were very insightful. I can’t wait for you guys to see the full interview (coming soon). For now, be entertained with this hot freestyle. I was pretty nervous, I won’t front. I felt like a kid that a magician pulled out the crowd to assist with a trick that only he knew how to preform but somehow I got asked to share his stage. Ha! I really miss this element of Hip Hop. So this is how we keep it alive…check out Mistah Fab freestyling off of random shit I dished out to him. Judge me when I get my round 2! Ha!

MTB Exclusive: Get to know @GotGlacierz – @Noreaga’s princess of Militainment

Check out this Maya the B exclusive with Glacierz Da’Ville. She is the first lady of Noreaga’s Militainment movement. Glacierz has really stepped into her own and created a lane for her music. We need more female voices in Hip Hop. Glacierz is ready to represent.

Get to Know Glacierz Da’Ville

MTB: How did you get your start as a rapper?
Glacierz: I actually started out w/ my bro Havoc years ago. I wrote ALOT just to write and then one day Johnathan Lighty said to me (******* is looking for verses you should write some sh*t for her and send it in get that publishing but we can’t tell her it’s another girl.) I LAUGHED and said … True! hahahaaa! So I established my own publishing company at that point and began submitting records/verses to whoever. and still working on projects w/ Havoc although I still wasn’t ready to be an “artist” of my own at the time. I was too busy being “cute” in the world on my street shit…

MTB: Who was the first person you rapped for? What was that like?
Glacierz: The first person I rapped for was this dude… I can’t recall his name but I know he tried to get me to sign a production deal and I took it home and opened A LOT of chocolate and Elliot on it LOL! it was dope though because it was my FIRST time recording in a studio and hearing my voice out loud like a rapper. I was really excited and feeling myself a little bit. LOL!

MTB: What was one of your favorite Hip-Hop songs as a kid?
Glacierz: Well…. As a kid I wasn’t really allowed to hear HipHop really.. I grew up on Cilia Cruz, Tito Puento, Whitney, Prince, Paul Simon, Michael… But when I could I’d sneak and listen to Redman Time 4 Some Action or HeadBangers EPMD.

MTB: Tell us about meeting Noreaga- how did that come about?
Glacierz: Wow man… LOL.. Let’s see how can I keep this SHORT but accurate… (more…)

Cold as Ice: Maya the B
HEADLINES AVE 1 STAFF AUGUST 2011

With her still-new-enough-to-smell-the-newness-on-it radio show at ThisIs50.com already receiving nominations, Radio & TV Personality/Producer Maya The B has proven that once one door closes, another one opens. Formerly one-third of video talk-show mainstay The Round Table Show (alongside Lenny S & former DJ Ron G manager Big Lite, which was at one time produced by a certain person who founded Avenue 1), the NYC transplant (via Boston) has carved quite a resume for herself…by herself, primarily operating as a one-woman machine throughout most, if not all of her radio run.

It took a year, but we finally caught up with the speedy power girl to talk a variety of topics, as nothing seemed to be off-limits.

Avenue 1: This is honestly one of the few times in hip-hop right now where putting out an album to a degree can take a backseat to consistently performing – do you think this could backfire for the business in a couple of years, or can help regain some of the creative art that has been lacking for sometime now?
Maya the B: Well, in order to get booked for shows you need material out. So I wouldn’t say that putting out an album takes a backseat because it’s needed in order to have the opportunity to even perform. But, I will say that to the established artist or a buzzing artist- concerts are one of the main sources of income. Since the internet allows people to download music for free- album sales have suffered, so shows have become one of the necessary ways to make money.

Do you think the internet community pays too much attention to what artists tweet?
I think twitter is amazing. It’s a great tool for upcoming artists and established stars. Definitely, the public takes every word to heart and the press will take 140 characters and turn it into a news story. But, overall twitter is a positive outlet to get to know your favorite artist and get some inside into their lives.

New Interview: Big Pooh of Little Brother talks new projects

I got yet another opportunity recently to chop it up with Rapper Big Pooh. I got the chance to talk to him about his new album Fat Boy Fresh Vol. 1: For Members Only out now, as well how this project differed with previous ones. I then asked him his views on homosexuality in Hip Hop brought back to light as a result of the Mister Cee situation. I even asked him his opinion on the recent patching up process between former partners Phonte and 9th Wonder and if he’s spoken to 9th since and ended our session with him speaking on his future projects.

The9elements: You just released an album titled “Fat Boy Fresh Vol. 1: For Members Only”. How does this project differ from your previous solo projects?

Rapper Big Pooh: With this project man, it’s almost like starting over, know what I’m sayin’. It’s a re-branding period for me. You know a lot of people know me from being part of Little Brother, and we did that for so many albums and so many years, it was so important for me to re-brand myself as a solo artist and this is part of the re-branding process. As far as the music and sonically, it’s just showin’ growth from my first album till’ now. I think I’m a better song writer. I think I’m a better writer period and I make better music now than I did before and whenever you go to create an album, that’s the time to showcase
